The 2019-20 corona virus has affected educational systems worldwide, leading to the near-total closures of schools, universities and colleges.
As of 18 April 2020, approximately 1.725 billion learners have been affected due to school closures in response to the pandemic. According to UNESCO monitoring, 192 countries have implemented nationwide closures and 5 have implemented local closures, impacting about 99.9 percent of the world’s student population.On 23 March 2020, Cambridge InternationalExaminations (CIE) released a statement announcing the cancellation of Cambridge, Cambridge O Level, Cambridge International AS & A Level, Cambridge Diploma, and Cambridge Pre-U examinations for the May/June 2020 series across all countries. InternationalBaccalaurea exams have also been cancelled.
During the swine flu out break 2009 in Uk, in an article titled “Closure of schools during an influenza pandemic” published in the Lancetinfections diseases, a group of epidemiologists endorsed the closure of schools in order to interrupt the course of the infection, slow further spread and buy time to research and produce a vaccine.
